Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground turkey
2 large cans of diced tomatoes
1 large can of kalamata olives
1 large can of low sodium roasted red peppers
2 cloves of garlic chopped
2 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
2 ½ tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon fresh oregano chopped
2 bay leaves whole
Salt and pepper to tastes
1 pound whole wheat penne pasta
In a large saucepan couple the tomatoes, olives, peppers, half the garlic, vinegar, olive oil, and half the oregano, bring to a simmer over a medium heat. At the same time brown the ground turkey with the other half of the oregano, half the garlic, and other spices that you prefer for taste. When the sauce has started to thicken pour it into a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Pour the puree into the cooked turkey meat and bring to simmer. Pour the sauce over the cooked whole wheat pasta and serve with grated parmesan cheese over the top.
Honey Cilantro Salmon
This tasty salmon dish should be a treat meal when it comes to lowering cholesterol recipes. There is a lot of honey in this dish, so don't eat it every day, but salmon and cilantro is so good for cholesterol that you can add it in once a month or so.
Ingredients:
4 salmon steaks
3 cloves of garlic chopped finely
1 larch bunch fresh cilantro chopped finely
1 ½ cups honey
Juice from 2 limes
Salt and pepper to taste
In a large skillet over medium heat cook the garlic, cilantro, honey, and lime juice. Continue to cook until fully combined and the honey is fully melted. Take the blend off of the heat and allow it to cool slightly while you prepare the steaks. Put the salmon steaks in a small baking dish and pour the blend over the top. Put in the fridge for up to one hour. Remove from fridge and grill.
